Youtube was the one that introduced me to Origins masks. Not Youtube itself, but the beauty vloggers that I was watching. Origins is not available for sale in my country so I had to order the masks online. I decided to buy a trio that was sold as a Christmas set last year.
The set includes their bestsellers in terms of face masks:
∞ Clear Improvement® Active charcoal mask to clear pores
∞ Drink Up™ Intensive Overnight mask to quench skin’s thirst
∞ Out of Trouble – 10 minute masks to rescue problem skin
Probably the one that I’ve used more intensely is the Out of Trouble one because it brightens up the face and my face looks less red after using it. It has a stringent smell because one of the main ingredients is sulfur. I usually leave for about 5 to 10 minutes and it’s a bit hard to take it off, it usually leaves white marks on the face and it needs to be washed off with warm water. It refines a bit the pores and it’s especially good to use when you feel that new pimples are about to pop out. It does what it says on the label without drying the skin excessively.
The next one of my favorite list is the Clear Improvement face mask that is made of charcoal. This one is better for unclogging pores. After using it, the face feels uber-clean, but the downside is that it kind of dries the skin a bit so it’s better to use a highly moisturizing cream (I use Biotherm Aquasource Cocoon or the Drink Up mask to tone down the dryness).
The last one is the Drink Up overnight mask that I usually use as recommended on the label. My current skincare ritual is:
- Cleanse the skin with the VisaPure brush and the Daily Energizer Cleansing Gel from Clarins
- Exfoliate the skin with the special VisaPure brush and the Exfoliant Purifying Gel from Bioderma Sebium
- Apply a face mask – I alternate the Clear Improvement® Active charcoal mask with the Out of Trouble – 10 minute masks
- Apply Aquasource Cocoon or the Drink Up mask and leave one of them overnight
The Drink up mask is like a moisturizing face cream, but I wouldn’t call it highly moisturizing and I have oily, combination, sensitive skin prone to acne and clogged pores.
What’s my general opinion about these masks? They’re totally worth it and I will definitely repurchase them.
